“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us” – Ephesians 3:20
LIGHT FOR NOW: God’s power is not distant from the believer. Through the Holy Spirit, divine ability is already at work within us.
Many believers live with a constant consciousness of limitation. They see themselves as weak, incapable, and insufficient for life’s battles and assignments. But scripture reveals that God’s power is actively working within the believer. Paul says: “Now unto him that is able…” This immediately shifts the believer’s focus away from human insufficiency toward divine capability. Christianity begins where self-dependence ends. The believer’s confidence is not rooted in personal perfection, intelligence, or natural strength. It is rooted in God’s ability.
Paul then says God is able to do: “Exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think…” The language here is intentionally excessive because human vocabulary struggles to fully describe the magnitude of God’s ability. This means God’s capacity surpasses: Human imagination, human expectation, human calculation and human limitation. Many believers unconsciously reduce God to the size of their experiences. But God is not limited by human weakness, impossible situations, or earthly systems.
One major reason believers struggle with fear is because they measure problems against themselves instead of measuring them against God. David understood this truth when facing Goliath. Others saw an impossible giant. David saw a covenant-keeping God. Faith does not deny challenges exist. Faith simply recognizes that God is greater than them. Paul then reveals something deeply powerful: “…according to the power that worketh in us”. Notice he did not say “around us” only; He said “in us”. The word “worketh” comes from the Greek word energeo, meaning active operation, effective working, or inwardly energized power. This means the believer is not spiritually empty or abandoned. God’s power is actively at work within him.
The Holy Spirit is not passive within the believer. He strengthens the inner man. He produces wisdom. He supplies grace. He empowers endurance. He gives boldness for kingdom living. Many believers are waiting for power to come externally while ignoring the divine presence already within them. This is why spiritual consciousness matters deeply. If believers constantly meditate on weakness, fear grows stronger. But when believers meditate on God’s indwelling power, faith rises. Paul prayed earlier in Ephesians 1 that believers would understand: “The exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe”. The problem is not lack of divine power. Often the issue is lack of revelation.
A believer ignorant of his inheritance may live beneath what God has already provided. This is why God continually calls believers to renew their minds through His word. The more you understand redemption, the more confidence rises within your spirit. You are not merely surviving life helplessly. The power of God is at work within you. This does not mean believers never feel weak emotionally or physically. Even Paul experienced difficult seasons. But inwardly, there remained a divine strength sustaining him continually. Victory becomes practical when believers stop drawing conclusions merely from outward conditions and begin seeing themselves through the reality of Christ within.
INSTRUCTION: Stop magnifying your limitations above God’s ability. Meditate daily on scriptures that reveal God’s power working within the believer.
PRAYER: God’s power is actively working within me. I refuse fear, limitation, and unbelief. Through the Holy Spirit, I walk in divine wisdom, strength, grace, and victory beyond human ability. Amen.

QUOTE: The believer’s greatest limitation is often not lack of power, but lack of revelation of the power already within.
