” When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory ” – Colossians 3:4
LIGHT FOR NOW: Christ is not merely the giver of the believer’s life; He has become our life. The Christian life finds its deepest meaning, source, identity, and future in Him.
As we conclude the first unveiling of this devotional, we arrive at one of the most profound descriptions of the believer’s union with Christ: “Christ, who is our life”. Paul does not say merely that Christ gives us life. He says Christ is our life. This is the heart of Christianity. The believer’s relationship with Christ is deeper than receiving help from Him when life becomes difficult. Christ is not simply a part of our lives among many other important things. He has become the source from which our new life flows. Before salvation, many things may have defined us; our past, our achievements, our failures, our family background, our possessions; the opinions of others. But in Christ, a new and deeper identity has been given to us. Christ is our life.
This means that the believer must learn to interpret everything from the reality of union with Him. Your circumstances may change, but Christ remains. Your emotions may change, but Christ remains. People may disappoint you, but Christ remains. Opportunities may come and go, but Christ remains. When everything around you seems uncertain, the foundation of your life is still secure because your life is anchored in an unchanging Person. This is why Paul said, “For to me to live is Christ”. He had discovered that true life was no longer centred around self. Christ had become the centre, the purpose, and the source of his existence. To say “Christ is my life” does not mean we lose our personality, gifts, dreams, or individuality. Rather, our entire existence finds its true purpose in Him.
Your gifts can now serve His purpose. Your words can express His grace. Your hands can become instruments of His love. Your life can become a vessel through which Christ is revealed. This is the beauty of the new creation. Christ does not merely stand beside you; He lives within you. And because He lives in you, your ordinary human life has become a place where divine life can find expression. But Paul also points us toward the future: “When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory”. The life we possess now is real, but its fullness is not yet completely visible. There is a glory that is presently hidden. There is a reality within the believer that the natural eye cannot fully see. But one day, the Christ who is presently our hidden life will be openly revealed. And we shall appear with Him in glory.
This gives the believer hope. Your present life is not the final chapter. The Christ-life within you is moving toward a glorious completion. What God began in Christ will reach its fullness. So, as we complete these first ten days, carry this revelation with you: Christ is in you. Christ lives through you. Christ is your source. Christ is your life. You do not have to search everywhere for what has already been given to you in Him. The greatest treasure of Christianity is not merely what Christ gives; it is Christ Himself. And if Christ is your life, then your life is anchored in One who cannot fail, fade, or be overcome. Glory!
INSTRUCTION: Throughout today, consciously declare: “Christ is my life.” Whenever circumstances attempt to become the center of your thoughts, return to the reality that your deepest identity, source, and future are found in Christ.
CONFESSION/PRAYER: Father, thank You that Christ is my life. I refuse to define myself by my past, my circumstances, my achievements, or the opinions of others. My life is hidden with Christ in You. Christ is my source, my identity, my purpose, and my future. Let His life be expressed through everything I do, and help me to live daily in the consciousness of my union with Him, in Jesus Name. Amen.
