“He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.” – Isaiah 53:3-7
LIGHT FOR NOW: You cannot use love from human perspective to define love from God’s perspective.
In the previous study on this subject, we saw how limited it is to want to define love or the love of God from human view. Truth is, when most folks say they love God, what they are thinking of is this human view of love. They think that loving God is like saying “I love my wife” or “I love my husband”. They are thinking of love founded on feelings and emotions; they are thinking of love as an expression or release of massive rush of hormones such as oxytocin, dopamine, norepinephrine, etc. This is how limited the scope of their love is but obviously, this their view or scope of love is a joke; this is not the kind of love we are talking about here. When we talk about love in the context of deity and divinity, we are talking about sacrifice. That is, we are talking about sacrifice in the terms where it involves a man dying (this is love from God’s perspective). Another joke some people actually exhibit in the name of loving God is when they say “I’m clapping my hands to show that I love Jesus”. So they will say “if you love the Lord, clap very loud”, and you will clap very loud. This is you playing in church when seriousness comes in; you will sit down to know how deity defines love. How on earth do you think that clapping your hands is loving God; can’t unbelievers also clap their hands? Even unbelievers can come to church and also join in shouting hallelujah; so how then do you think or define that as loving God. Clapping or you saying “if you love the Lord, say hallelujah” is just to get the service going or you getting your congregation involved in the service; don’t interpret or define that as love because that is not how deity defines love. John 3:16 did not say that God so loved the world, so He stood up and clapped for mankind or shouted hallelujah! Truth is, if that is what He did, humanity would have been lost in the consequences of his choice which was sin. “God so love the world that he gave…” so, in deity’s definition of love, it is the domain of sacrifice. Hallelujah!
INSTRUCTION: Where the knowledge of God’s word is concerned, place premium on it.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, I declare that the revelation of your word grows big on my inside, in Jesus Name, Amen.
QUOTE: The love of God is the reason that God gave us Jesus.
