WALKING IN VICTORY (5)

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” – John 8:32

LIGHT FOR NOW: Freedom and victory are impossible where truth is absent. Every lasting victory in the believer’s life begins with revelation.

One of the greatest weapons Satan uses against believers is ignorance. Many people sincerely love God, yet struggle unnecessarily because they do not know what Christ has accomplished for them. Jesus said, “Ye shall know the truth…” He did not say truth merely existing would make men free. Truth must first be known.
The word “know” comes from the Greek word ginosko, which speaks of experiential knowledge; knowledge gained through intimacy, understanding, and personal encounter. This means victory is not produced by casual exposure to scripture; it comes through deep understanding of God’s truth. Many believers read the Bible occasionally, but revelation comes when scripture moves beyond information and becomes illumination within the heart.
Notice Jesus said: “The truth shall make you free”. The word “free” comes from the Greek word eleutheroo, meaning “to liberate,” “to release from bondage,” or “to set at liberty.” This reveals that divine truth carries delivering power. This means ignorance can keep a believer trapped even when freedom has already been provided in Christ. For example, imagine a man legally given ownership of a house but unaware of the documents proving it. Though the house belongs to him, he may still live like a homeless man because of ignorance.

In the same way, many believers possess victory in Christ yet live defeated lives because they are unaware of their inheritance. Hosea 4:6 says: “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”. Notice God did not say His people were destroyed because Satan was too powerful. He said they were destroyed because knowledge was absent. Satan thrives where revelation is lacking. This is why the enemy fights doctrine so intensely. He knows that a believer grounded in truth becomes difficult to enslave.
When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, Satan attacked with deception, but Jesus responded with revealed truth: “It is written…” Truth exposes lies. Truth destroys fear. Truth dismantles condemnation. Truth produces confidence. The believer who understands redemption begins to think differently, speak differently, and live differently. This is why your spiritual growth matters. Victory is not sustained by excitement alone; it is sustained by understanding.
A believer who does not grow in revelation may remain spiritually immature even after many years in church. Paul prayed in Ephesians 1 that believers would receive “the spirit of wisdom and revelation.” Why? Because revelation opens the eyes of the heart to the realities of redemption. The more you see Christ clearly, the more victory becomes your daily experience.

INSTRUCTION: Become intentional about studying God’s word. Do not only seek motivation, seek revelation and understanding.

PRAYER: My eyes are open to the truth of God’s word. I walk in revelation, freedom, and victory. Every lie of the enemy is broken by the light of Christ in me. I grow daily in spiritual understanding and dominion. Amen.
