GROW IN KNOWLEDGE

“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him” (Colossians 2:6)

LIGHT FOR NOW: Knowledge is what brings you into the realities of all of God’s promises fulfilled in Christ.

Yesterday, we saw that the Pauline prayers were replete with prayers for knowledge. This therefore shows that the place of knowledge cannot be overemphasized. It is knowledge that will make it easy for your mind to be renewed to be in line with your present day status as a son of God. Knowledge brings you into the realities of all of God’s promises fulfilled in Christ. For the mind to be renewed, it must come alive with knowledge of who you are in Christ, what you have in Christ, what you can do in Christ and what Christ can do through you. Spiritual growth is a personal responsibility. Not conforming to this world means not to follow the world’s examples but to allow and act the word of God. In renewing our minds, we should take the admonition of James which says, “Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath :”( James1:19) Being slow to speak means to be slow to make a conclusion. In taking advantage of our place in Christ, obedience to the leading of the Spirit is vital; this would imply doing the word. That is why being slow does not mean you don’t know what to do, but doing what God’s word says. Hence, the believer shouldn’t be an impulsive listener, but should have a habit of listening again till there’s a conviction. He’s not the one to conclude matters, but rather allow matters, by the leading of the spirit conclude themselves.

We live in a world where people take advantage of opportunities.”O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps”(Jeremiah 10:23). In other words, we are influenced by things; it is wrong to say nothing influenced a decision as there has never been a time man was neutral. At times, men take decisions that are purely commercial, emotional, economic or even convenient. In the eyes of man, it seems the right thing to do, but the question should be “was that decision according to God’s plan? Was it according to God’s word?” A man who is involved in the service of God should never allow negative influences affect his service to the Lord. Hebrews 4:12-13 (Moffatt’s translation) says, “For the Logos of God is a living thing, active and more cutting than any sword with double edge, penetrating to the very division of soul and spirits, joints and marrow – scrutinizing the very thoughts and conceptions of the heart. And no created thing is hidden from him; all things lie upon and exposed before the eyes of him with whom we have to reckon”. You should let the word of Christ then dwell in you richly. It will reveal the very riches of your inheritance in Christ thereby building the God’s steadfastness in you

INSTRUCTION: Let the word dwell in you richly.

PRAYER: I affirm that I am established firmly in the written word of God hence, I can never be stranded in life – Glory

QUOTE: The believer in Christ should not be an impulsive listener.
