“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him” (Colossians 2:6)

LIGHT FOR NOW: There is a direct correlation between what you know and the quality of your life.

Proverbs 11:9 says, “An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered”. This informs us of a major reason some believers are not enjoying their inheritance in Christ; this is because they’re ignorant of the word of God, as you cannot exercise faith in what you don’t know. Ignorance in the word of God will short-circuit the power of God in your life. The Apostle Paul kept emphasizing the importance of knowledge to the believer in his letters to the churches, he kept praying for them to have knowledge (Ephesians 1:17-18; Colossians 1:9). The fact is that there’s a direct correlation between what you know and the quality of your life. What you know determines how you live and what you can accomplish. You’ll never have more or go further in life than your knowledge will allow, hence Apostle Paul would say, “Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord” (2 Peter 1:2). Certainly, the only thing standing between some believers and the transcendent life which they’ve been called into is their ignorance, not sin or the devil. With accurate knowledge of the word of God, the believer can build his faith and catapult himself to a higher level of operation as a man in Christ.

Whilst most believers have not been properly taught the word, some have wrong attitudes towards the word of God, which eventually reflect in their daily faith walk. God’s word should always be seen as the Father speaking to us; it should be real to us as though He were in a room speaking to us personally. Having a right attitude towards the word will cause our minds to be renewed thereby taking advantage of our placement in Christ. “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.”(Romans 12:2). Renewing of the mind is to exchange our thoughts with God’s word; a situation where the influence of God’s word over our minds abound. Halleluiah!!!

INSTRUCTION: Go after knowledge.
