“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side. Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.” – Isaiah 60:1-5
LIGHT FOR NOW: The revelation knowledge of God’s word is equated to proper bible interpretation.
Having carefully examined Matthew 19:3-8 by applying the rule of systematic reading where a body of texts listed below were examined:
- Deuteronomy 24:1-5
- Genesis 1:27; 2:24
- Ephesians 5:30-32, etc.
It is therefore clear without doubt that the unbelief of the Jews was the reason for their request of divorcement (Deuteronomy 24:1-5) so as to physically demonstrate that unbelief to the spiritual reality which was God’s plan in the beginning. So their unbelief to God’s union with the church or man in Christ which is without divorce is why they demonstrated it in marriage physically as divorce. Don’t forget that marriage was used by Moses there in Genesis to communicate salvation; that is, God cannot divorce his wife (the church); which is also symbolic of salvation being eternal; an eternal union. In other words, just like a believer or the church cannot be divorced by Christ/God, then a believer cannot lose salvation.
In essence, divorce is possible with men within the marital institution; but with God and his church, divorce is impossible. And that is why loosing salvation as a believer is impossible. For a believer to lose salvation, then God has to divorce him for him. But salvation is an eternal union with God; and in this union it is impossible for him to divorce, hence once saved is eternally saved. Conclusively here on this particular investigation, even though they are reasons where even a believer can consider divorce in the physical marital institution (like cases of severe emotional abuse, physical abuse, etc), a believer is however supposed to mirror God in his or her marriage physically. However, what is good news in this analysis is that, we are in eternal union with God; and he can’t divorce us. We are in an inseparable union with God. Hallelujah!
