“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side. Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.” – Isaiah 60:1-5
LIGHT FOR NOW: The book called the bible demands critical observation to details in order to arrive at exactness in interpretation and application.
The Old Testament is one of those texts that have been misconstrued in the church world today. It is Deuteronomy 22:5, it reads “The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God”. Moses gave the Israelites the law; He gave them the law to guide their actions. Let’s observe bible text critically to know whom Moses’ laws were given to, before we even open up Deuteronomy 22:5.
Chapter 5 of Deuteronomy echoes “And Moses called all Israel, and saith unto them; Hear O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them… But as for thee, stand thou here by me, and I will speak unto thee all the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which thou shall teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it” (Deuteronomy 5:1, 31). So it was for the nation of Israel. He gave them the commandments to guide them when they get to Canaan. Hallelujah!
