“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side. Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.” – Isaiah 60:1-5

LIGHT FOR NOW: Subjective spirit interpretation is a misconception as far as proper bible interpretation is concerned.

The idea that two or more interpretation of a text can oppose his order because of the Holy Ghost different leading is a misconception. Like we said before, if two people have two different and opposing interpretation of a bible text, it is either one of them is correct or they are both wrong. Let’s go over this fact: while we are helped by the Holy Spirit in interpretation, the spirit can never contradict what he had already revealed through the writings. Therefore, a text can never mean what it never meant. At this point, let’s quickly address an issue in mind in John 16. It’s very possible to use Jesus’ words in John 16:13 to support the idea of subjective spirit interpretation. Many have this idea that since Jesus said in John 16 that the spirit will guide us into all truth; then subjective spirit interpretation was does intended by Jesus’ communication there since it is based on the Holy Spirit’s guiding. The spirit will guide us into all truth; but this does not however speak of subjective spirit interpretation. Let’s hear Jesus’ words in John 16:13, it reads, “Howbeit when he, the spirit of truth is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come”.

A study will let you know the spirit has, so far, only communicated truths in written form. In 1Peter 1:10-12, the Apostle Peter has this to say “Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: searching what, or what manner of time the spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into”. In the above text, we will see what Paul was referring to in the next study. Hallelujah!

INSTRUCTION: Stay with the written word.

PRAYER: My eyes of understanding are sharpened and enlightened by your word in the place of study, in Jesus Name, Amen.

QUOTE: There is no room for subjective spirit interpretation in bible interpretation.
