“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? He that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.” (John 14:6-10).
LIGHT FOR NOW: We know God in Christ. Outside Christ, we don’t know God.
We have deduced from Jesus’ response in verses 6 and 7 to Thomas’ question that the revelation of God that a man has is equivalent to the revelation of Jesus that he has. Furthermore, Jesus’ response in verses 9 and 10 to Philip’s question in verse 8 of the above text reveals the fact that there is no other greater revelation of the Father outside the person of Jesus. Meaning, the person of Jesus reveals God to us. The son reveals the Father; hence, you know the Father in the son. Thus, the son is the Father manifest. Paul also explained in 1Timothy 3 which reads “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory” (1Timothy 3:16). Recall, the word “mystery” implies “hidden”, “a secret” or “to be explained”. The word “manifest” here which is the word “phaneroo” in the Greek implies to unveil, to reveal, to uncover. Notice also the phrase “seen of angels”. In other words, the Father revealed Himself to humanity and to angels, in the son; Jesus explains the Father to us. The son is the Father manifest. When you see the son, you see the Father. In the son the mystery, double mindedness, uncertainty, confusion, complexity about God in a mind of man is clarified, resolved and explained. In the son is the complete and perfect revelation of God. Thus, knowing the son is to know the Father. You can’t aim to be efficient in the revelation of God when you are deficient in the revelation of Jesus. The accurate, precise, exact and perfect revelation of God is only in the person of Jesus. So, missing it in knowing Jesus will be equivalent to missing it in knowing God. Hallelujah!
INSTRUCTION:Go for the revelation of Jesus.
PRAYER: I pray for my desire to know you like never before; I have insight into the knowledge of your person (Father), In Jesus Name, Amen.
QUOTE: Missing it in knowing Jesus will be equivalent to missing it in knowing God.
