AUTHORITY IN THE NAME JESUS(11)

“The LORD said unto my Lord, sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool” – Psalm 110:1

LIGHT FOR NOW: The authority of Jesus is the believers’ possession and position by identification.

David’s prophecy in the above text which was about Jesus was being referenced and elucidated by the writer of Hebrews in Hebrews 10:12-14 which reads “But this man after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected forever them that are sanctified”. The footstool is something literal because in historical times, when you win a war, what happens is that the man in charge now demonstrates it. This is to prove or show that you are in charge. Today, the authority of Jesus is exercised to us; the church, the believers. Observe 1Corinthians 15:24-27 closely “Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him”.

1Corinthians 15:26 is vital; “The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death”. His enemies are not physical. The word “last” in verse 26 is to show finality; hence, death is the chief enemy. That authority hence deals with the spiritual and not physical. Observe verses 55 to 57 of 1Corinthians 15 “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ”. We have the authority over everything Jesus conquered from his grave to the throne. Colossians 2:15 says “And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them”. We are in victory here; we are in authority. The authority of Jesus is your authority. Glory!

INSTRUCTION: Let your realities occupy your mind.

CONFESSION: I see myself in Christ; what he is, I am; who he is, I am and what he has, I have, in Jesus Name, Amen.

QUOTE: Jesus’ authority is the believers’ possession today.
