AUTHORITY IN THE NAME JESUS (10)

“The LORD said unto my Lord, sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool” – Psalm 110:1

LIGHT FOR NOW: In the resurrection of Jesus, we find that his exaltation is the resurrection of the believer where we find the believer’s exaltation by identification with Christ.

The term right hand is not about sitting, it is a position. Hear the writer of Hebrews in Hebrews 10:12-14 “But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sin forever, sat down on the right hand of God; from henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected forever them that are sanctified”. There are things that must happen because he is in that position. In historical times, when you win a war, it is not just good enough to win the war literally, what happens is that the man in charge now demonstrates it. Hence, the footstool is something literal. Joshua 10:24 gives us a cue “And it came to pass, when they brought out those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war which went with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they came near, and put their feet on the necks of them”.

1Kings 5:3 is also key, it reads “Thou knowest how that David my father could not build a house unto the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet”. It was to prove that you are in charge, to use your authority. It means to literally pounce on your defeated enemies, to show publicly what you have done. You will now parade them on the streets. Observe 2Chronicles 9:18 “And there were six steps to the throne, with a footstool of gold, which were fastened to the throne, and stays on each side of the sitting place, and two lions standing by the stays”. A literal throne was built like that with a footstool where the king will show his authority. The Lordship of Jesus today is exercised through us. The authority of Jesus is exercised through us today because we are the proof of that authority. We are trophies of Jesus’ victory. We are that prove of his authority. We are the walking evidence that Jesus is risen; He is no longer in the grace. His resurrection and exaltation became ours at the point of identification. Today, we are seated together with him in the place of highest authority; the right hand of God. Glory!

INSTRUCTION: Learn to define yourself in Christ.

CONFESSION: I see myself seated where Christ is seated. I am at the father’s right hand, a position of power and authority, in Jesus Name, Amen

QUOTE: Where Christ is, is where the believer is.
