“That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus” – Philemon 1:6
LIGHT FOR NOW: The key to active and effective Christian living in the Christian walk is knowledge.
In Paul’s letter to the Philippians church, he has this to say, “And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God” (Philippians 1:9-11). Knowledge is the key in the above prayers. In Paul’s letter to the church at Colossae, he echoes “For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness” (Colossians 1:9-11). Again, observe the following:
- That you might be filled with the knowledge of his will.
- Increasing in the knowledge of God.
The epistles are very replete on knowledge. Christianity thus is a knowledge based faith. The Christian adventure is a knowledge based adventure. The greatest need of the believer is revelation knowledge. Coming to the realization of what belongs to you in Christ equips you to living the Christian life. Knowledge therefore, is the key to effective Christian living. Glory!
