GOD IS GOOD

“And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day. The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day? And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.” – Luke 13:10-17

LIGHT FOR NOW: When God shows up, goodness shows up.

As believers, you need to address your minds to the fact that you have a good God; a God that goodness is his nature and that is what he gives to us His children. God’s goodness to us is independent of our actions and inactions; His goodness is not a reaction to our actions. Truth remains that God is good; in fact, goodness is not just what God does, goodness is who God is. In essence, when God shows up, that is goodness showing up. When God shows up in a situation, that showing up of God is goodness showing up; that showing up of God is kindness showing up; that showing up is God’s compassion showing up; that showing up of God is love showing up. Apostle John has this to say 1John 4:8, 16 “He that loveth not knoweth not God, for God is love. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him”

When Jesus who is God showed up in the case of the woman with an infirmity for 18 years, that showing up of Jesus handled the matter. Jesus said, “Woman, thou art loosed”, why? It is because goodness showed up, love showed up, kindness showed up, compassion showed up. Goodness handled the matter. Jesus cannot show up in an ugly situation and that situation remains the same; it’s impossible. The healing ministry of Jesus reveals God as a good God to us; it reveals God as compassionate, merciful, kind, and one who is always willing to do good. That’s why James says in James 1:17, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning”. This is the Good God. Glory!

INSTRUCTION: Stir up your faith in the Good God.

CONFESSION: I stir up my faith in the Good God, I stir up my faith in the miraculous, I stir up my faith in the impossible, in Jesus Name, Amen
