“Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world.” – Philippians 2:14-15
LIGHT FOR NOW: Thanksgiving is the attribute of the new man in Christ.
Giving thanks should not or never be occasional. It is a feature of the new man in Christ. Joy is the fruit of salvation; it is not born from any excitement of temporary relief. Rather, it is in-built, within the recreated human spirit. We must never be found complaining or grumbling. Grumbling is a presence of doubt and anxiety. We have seen instructions in the scriptures about us not living in complain. Thanksgiving is a feature of our new found faith, thus living life in complains will be us acting contrary to our nature. Paul echoes something in Philippians 4:6 “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God”.
When the cares of life seems overwhelming, the scripture teaches us to pray and give thanks. We are not giving thanks for evil, rather, prayer changes things and giving thanks affirms the integrity of God’s word in every situation. We give thanks because God’s word is true and this causes joy and rejoicing. Grumbling after prayer amounts to a waste of your time. As James teaches, let not such a man thinks he can receive anything from God (James 1:5-7 AMP). When we pray about circumstances; whether family, personal or for nations, let us give thanks to God. Glory!
INSTRUCTION: Do all things without grumbling, fault-finding and complaining.
PRAYER: Lord, we give you thanks for your word is working and prevailing over our lives, ministries, businesses, families and our nation, in Jesus Name. Amen.
QUOTE: The attitude of gratitude is our attitude and attribute in the Christian faith.
