“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” – 1John 5:4
LIGHT FOR NOW: By virtue of being born of God, you are an overcomer.
Walking in victory, walking as a conqueror is your reality today; and thus, your everyday life should reveal that. The word “born of God” in the text above is the word “gennao ek theos” in Greek which implies to be procreated of God; to be begotten of God. That’s why born again is same as saying born of God; born from above; born of the spirit. Apostle John here (1John 5:4) is talking about the born again man; the new creation, and he says “this man, the new creation is born of God, thus he is an overcomer; he has overcome the world”. That’s why the next verse (verse 5) brings it to the spotlight “Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?” (1John 5:5). So the one that has believed that Jesus is God’s son is the one who have overcometh the world.
Our victory was obtained by Jesus stripping the devil of his control or authority over us. That’s why we are now Jesus’ own. Thus, Satan has no authority over us, Satan and his cohorts have been rendered powerless. Hence, we are in authority now; we are overcomers. Jesus did not just make you an overcomer and leave you there; he made you an overcomer and then took residence in you. Greater is he that is in you; you are greater than sickness; greater than the devil, and that is why you have the authority to cast out devils. You have overcome the world, the devil, sickness, defeats, etc. Whatever is from this world is not permitted to defeat you. You are saved and secured in Christ because you overcame. You are not a habitation for the devil; you are the habitation of God; therefore, don’t accept defeat. In Christ, you are more than a conqueror. Glory!
