“But ye are not in the flesh, but in the spirit, if so be that the spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his” – Romans 8:9
LIGHT FOR NOW: As a son of God, the fullness of God dwells in your inside.
In our studies yesterday, we came to see that the indwelling of the Spirit is the greatest blessings we have as Christians. As a believer in Christ, you must be well versed in the subject of the indwelling of the Spirit. The indwelling of the Spirit was a promise made in the Old Testament books of the Bible: “Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new Spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.” (Ezekiel 36:25-27). This promise of the indwelling of the Spirit has already been fulfilled in Christ Jesus. As a son of God, you need to understand that all the fullness of God has been deposited in your inside.
This truth was buttressed by Jesus Christ when he said, “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another comforter, that he may abide with you forever; even the spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for hedwelleth with you, and shall be in you” (John 14:16-17). Observe that Jesus explained the giving of the Spirit by explaining His union with the Father; and how He was going to the Father to prepare a place for us (John 14:1-3). The fulfillment of this will be Him (Jesus) and the Father taking an abode (dwelling place) in us; it will be related to Jesus’ resurrection from the dead and subsequent exaltation to the right hand of the Father. Hallelujah!
