“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side. Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.” – Isaiah 60:1-5
LIGHT FOR NOW: Not reading the bible the way it ought to be read will make you interpret the bible the way it ought not to be interpreted.
There is no book of utmost importance to the building up of a believer where growth in the word is concerned as the bible. The bible should be the most appraised material in a believer’s life; however, your appraisal of the bible is not seen in you owning a bible, but it’s seen in you actually giving yourself to the study of it. How do you appraise a book you have not well studied? A believer’s growth in the word is termed spiritual growth; and spiritual growth wouldn’t be possible without the written document called the bible. The bible in our hands is our tool for spiritual growth. However, in the natural, it is not enough to have a tool; it’s equally critical and important that beyond having a tool, you must equally come to a place of knowing how the tool is to be used. No matter how many books you have in your library, if you don’t give yourself to learning, you cannot understand what you read. The number of textbooks does not define who the best is; the best is defined and determined by the one who is the most diligent or gives apt attention while studying.
It’s not just enough to have a bible; neither is it enough to read your bible as you dim fit, rather, it’s very critical to know how to read or study the bible. There is “the how” to the reading of the bible. If you don’t know how to read it or how it should be read and studied, you will be missing out. Therefore, in our study this month, we will be bringing you to a place of appraising the bible in the way it ought to be read, studied, interpreted, taught and explained. You will come to a place of loving the language structure of the bible, the beauty in its grammatical construction, idiomatic expressions and figurative constructions. You will discover that the bible in itself is a very intelligent and academic material and thus requires so much depth of intelligence in the reading, understanding and interpreting of it. Hallelujah!!!
INSTRUCTION: Read your bible the same way you will read for an examination.
PRAYER: I declare that the appetite for the word stirs up in me more than ever, in Jesus Name. Amen.
QUOTE: In bible interpretation, error in reading will birth error in interpretation.
