“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover” – Mark 16:15-18
LIGHT FOR NOW:
We’ve come to deduce that from Jesus’ instruction in Mark 16:15-18, Matthew 28:18-20, Luke 24:44-48 (and let’s include John 20:21-23), it is evident that the Apostles were to teach and preach what and how they had been taught by the Lord Jesus… the gospel, repentance and forgiveness of sins. So, Jesus instructed them to teach and preach the gospel of Christ from the Holy Scriptures. Thus, the message of the minister is the gospel of Christ. Very importantly, he must teach and explain the same gospel as Jesus taught in the synoptic, and as the Apostles taught in the epistles. In essence, the ministers of the gospel’s emphasis must be in tandem with Jesus emphasis in the synoptic and in tune with that of the Apostles in the epistles. This explains why Paul clearly stated in his first letter to the Corinthians, “Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover, it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful” (1Corinthians 4:1-2).
The minister of God, of Christ, of the gospel must be faithful with the message of the gospel of Christ. He or she is to teach and explain the same way the Lord Jesus and his Holy Apostles did in the synoptic and in their letters respectively. Having established those facts about the minister of the gospel, the question still remains who is he? Who is the minister of the gospel? Having known what the gospel is and its emphasis; having seen Jesus’ instruction upon his resurrection, lets now answer “who is the minister of the gospel” in the proceeding studies. Hallelujah!
