“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover” – Mark 16:15-18
LIGHT FOR NOW: Every believer in Christ (male and female) has been given the ministry of reconciliation.
Having seen and established few facts of who the gospel of Christ is, let’s clearly answer the question of who he is. Paul’s words in 2Corinthians 5 will be vital here, it reads “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God” (2Corinthians 5:17-20). The phrase “any man” refers to humanity (male or female). Thus, the new creation is Christ is anyone has believed in the gospel of Christ. Galatians 3:28 says this “There is neither Jew now Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus”. Clearly, the phrase “new creation” refers to everyone who is in Christ, male or female, every tribe, bond or free, no distinction whatsoever.
In Romans 1:16, Paul says “…I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek”. Paul in 1 Corinthians 12:13 lets us know that “we are all joined together into one body by one spirit”. Earlier in context of 2 Corinthians 5, Paul explained the gospel in verses 14 and 15 and he speaks of the love of Christ constraining us, then pointing us to Jesus’ death and resurrection. Thus, the “us” in verse 18 “…God who has reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ…” refers to any man (male and female) in Christ, by virtue of his faith in the gospel. Thus, it is safe to say that every believer (male and female) has been given the ministry of reconciliation by Jesus. Hallelujah!
