THIS GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM (4)

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, the just shall live by faith” Romans 1:16-17

LIGHT FOR NOW: The Gospel is not for enjoyment or acquisition of information but for sharing.

The Bible speaking in 1 Corinthians 15:19 (GNB) says, “If our hope in Christ is good for this life only and no more, then we deserve more pity than anyone else in the world”. Paul here clearly admonishes us about the danger of living our lives here on earth as though here is the only place to live for. When as a Christian you lack the revelation of the essence of your life on earth, then you deserve more pity than anyone else in the world. When a Christian becomes blind to the life beyond this world, he has lost touch with the real reason and the eternal purpose of his mission here on earth. The gospel is not for enjoyment or acquisition of information but for sharing. “Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us the triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place” ( 2 Corinthians 2:14). The word “savour” in the above text of scripture conveys the idea of the gospel being like bottled perfume that the aroma is only perceived when it is uncocked. This implies that it is only when the gospel is preached that its effect is felt. Since it is good news, and for everybody, it must be told and not to be found out or searched for.  Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NIV) says, “He has made everything beautiful in his time. He has also set eternity in the human heart…”. The reason God brought us into the realm eternity is for us to live and see beyond this world. God expects us to connect everything we do to eternity and very paramount in this line is to make sure that the gospel reaches all in our spheres of influence.  Interestingly, this message is not such that you ask unbelievers to confess their sins or to condemn them. If it’s the Gospel of Christ, then there will be no condemnation for sins; men are condemned only for unbelief. “For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already…”  (John 3:17-18).  It is the message of reconciliation – God seeking peace with sinners and not the other way round.

The gospel is a message of unconditional forgiveness of sins (Luke 24:48). It is a message of repentance (change of mind) and remission (to take away) of sins. The gospel is why we are here now as members of God’s family. But many live their lives without ever knowing their reason for being. There is no life more frustrating than one lived without purpose. As a Christian, you have a responsibility in Christ to see to it that your Father’s eternal purpose for your life is fulfilled. Living for the Gospel has to be a revelation you practically live for. You must be found daily snatching men out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of life and light by preaching the gospel. Maybe you didn’t really see it this way; that’s what it means to be born again; your life is one on a mission for Christ. So, don’t waste this opportunity.

INSTRUCTION: Don’t waste any opportunity you have to spread the sweet smelling savour of the Gospel of Christ.

PRAYER: I cannot fail because I have the preaching of the gospel as my priority, in Jesus name, Amen.

QUOTE: No Gospel equals no salvation; No salvation equals no life
