PREACH THE GOSPEL DELIBERATELY (7)

“Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine”

 2 Timothy 2:4

LIGHT FOR NOW: The Gospel should be preached without season and without ceasing.

Prophet Ezekiel stated in clear terms, the importance of believers reaching out to the lost or taking the great commission serious.  “But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take pay  person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand” (Ezekiel 33:6). The Apostle Paul also underscores the importance of Prophet Ezekiel’s statement to the believers of his time before his departure from Ephesus; and this relates to us today.   Wherefore, I take you to record this day that I am pure from the blood of all men” (Acts 20:26). The above statement by Apostle Paul was a follow-up to what he had earlier  stated in the same chapter:  … from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons, serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many fears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews: and how I kept nothing back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shown you, and have taught you publicly, and from house to house, testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith towards our Lord Jesus Christ” (Acts 20:18-21). It is therefore obvious that Apostle Paul was very deliberate and intentional about preaching to get men saved as long as they came in contact with him. Hence, he could boldly say,  I am pure from the blood of all men”. The gospel should be preached without season and without ceasing. The implication is that when men do not hear the gospel, to the end that they believe it, they will go on living without hope of eternity. They will be brought into the world, live in it and pass on without God, despite all that God has done to save them. We have been entrusted with the message of Christ to reach our world with; God has no pleasure in the death of the sinner hence He has sent us to go in search of them.

“And they went forth, and preach everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen” (Mark 16:20). The word, “everywhere” will imply ceasing every available opportunity to preach. The unsaved are as close as our workplaces, lecture halls, football fields, buses in transit, streets, market places, families etc; wherever people abound, so will the unsaved. Therefore upon salvation, every believer having received the great commission, ought to go out there and fulfill what he received. Remember Jesus speaking said, “I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth….”( Luke 15:7). So the souls of men are God’s priority; it is the heartbeat of the Father; it triggers joy in heaven; thank God for miracles, signs and wonders. We must understand that the salvation of the souls of men was the purpose of Jesus’ travails. So everyone of us must get ourselves fully involved in soul winning ventures.

INSTRUCTION: win a soul today.

PRAYER: Father, I receive utterance in my preaching of the gospel, in Jesus Name, Amen.

QUOTE: The souls of men are God’s priority.
