“For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel” 1 Corinthians 9:16
LIGHT FOR NOW: we must never be ashamed to preach the gospel to the unsaved.
As we have seen so far, every believer has been called into the Great Commission. It is in the great commission that we locate our purpose for life. This ought to be our major focus in life we shouldn’t become blind to the life beyond this world; we shouldn’t act as people who have lost touch with the real reason for our lives here on earth. Simply put, our mission is to go after, search for and look for the lost, with the ever dependable tool of the gospel in our mouths, the message is about God’s love to humanity and we must be rest assured that as we preach it to our audience, they will believe and be saved. Apostle Paul writing to his son, Timothy said ‘’Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me, his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God (2Timothy 1:18). Here, he was urging his son Timothy to testify of the Lord without shame and warned him at the same time to expect afflictions and sufferings. This also becomes applicable to us today. The gospel is associated with embarrassments, insults, threats, oppositions, physical punishments etc that we must face just as the early apostles did. 2 Corinthians 11:25 says, “thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep”. Again, Paul speaking in Philippians 1:12-14 says, ‘’but I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel; so that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places; and many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear’’.
We must never be ashamed to preach the gospel of Christ to the unsaved. We must be ready to preach it in our neighborhoods, streets, markets, schools, taxis and buses and from house to house and just about everywhere. According to 2 Corinthians 5:18-19, we received the ministry of reconciliation alongside our salvation which implies that salvation is ministry and the first instruction is to go (Matthew 28:19). Hence, reaching out to the unsaved happens when we ‘’go’’. Preaching to get saved is a spiritual exercise, therefore we need to pray for boldness (Acts 4:29-31). The gospel is not preached with timidity, fear or in cowardice. When boldness accompanies your preachings and deeds, it will mark you out as a disciple of Christ.
INSTRUCTION: Preach the gospel with boldness.
PRAYER: Father, I receive boldness to preach the gospel of Christ, in Jesus Name, Amen.
QUOTE: you do not need any spectacular experience to share the gospel, the Gospel is spectacular in itself.
