“And God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth” – Genesis 1:26-28.
LIGHT FOR NOW:God’s plan was not an afterthought but the real thought.
We’ve said that the man in Genesis 1:26-28 and the man in Genesis 2:7 are not the same Adam. The man in Genesis 1:26-28 who is the image and likeness of God and occupies the authority of God is the plan of God for the man in Genesis 2:7. Meaning God’s plan for the man that was made a living soul was for him to be in the image of God. Take note, that plan preceded the creation of that man in Genesis 2:7. The plan is in Genesis 1:26-28 and man (Adam) was formed in Genesis 2:7. The plan thus wouldn’t be an afterthought or reaction, but a proaction. That said, let us now begin to make things clear by observing the grammar of Genesis 1:26-28. That word “let us make” in verse 26 of Genesis appears like a conversation because of how the King James translated it. However, that word “let us make” being translated from the Hebrew means a plan (it’s the word “asah” in Hebrew). God wasn’t having a conversation, God was announcing His plan. God is saying “My plan is man in my image and likeness…” Though it appeared as God were conversing because of the words: us, our image, our likeness; it wasn’t a conversation but an announcement/utterance of a plan, and that is why the next verse says “God created man in his own image”, not “God created man in their own image”. So what’s the plan? The plan is man in my image; man in my likeness and this man in my image and likeness will have dominion over the fish of the sea, and fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth…
