“To open their eyes, and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me” – Acts 26:18
LIGHT FOR NOW: Don’t just have head knowledge of the word, have a working knowledge of the word.
We began setting the tone for what we will be investigating in this study. Truth is, most folks don’t comprehend the nitty-gritty of forgiveness. Some have been wrongly taught and thus, their understanding of forgiveness as it relates with sins is on the wrong premise. And also, some folks who are rightly taught on this only have a mental assent of it. Recall, God desires that we don’t just have a mental assent of His word, He desires we have a working knowledge of His word. Don’t just know the word, live the word out. Living the word out shows that you don’t just have head knowledge of the word (mental assent), it shows you have a working knowledge of the word. You know some folks for instance can give you the exegesis of prayer but they are not praying. They can give you the Greek analysis, Hebrew analysis, grammatical analysis and corroborative exegesis on prayer, but if you check their lives, they are not praying at all. Such people only have mental assent. That is, they know but they are not walking in the reality of what they know. And do you know what such people do when they want to justify their inability to live in what they know? Please don’t be deceived, your knowledge life does not substitute your prayer life. Growth in knowledge does not decrease your prayer life; growth in knowledge increases your prayer life. If your prayer life decreases because you have grown in knowledge, such knowledge needs to be questioned. Don’t be deceived, truth is, the effectiveness of prayers is not in knowing/knowledge, the effectiveness of prayers is in praying. No matter how knowledgeable you are in the subject of prayers, if you don’t pray then you are not effective at all. So it’s not knowing that makes prayer effective, it is praying that makes prayer effective even though prayers should be prayed in knowledge (but it is not the knowledge that determines its effectiveness, rather it is the prayer itself). So the power of prayer is not in knowing, the power of prayer is in praying. Don’t be careless to use quotes and justify your laziness, go and pray. Don’t just have head knowledge of the word, have a working knowledge of the word. Hallelujah!
INSTRUCTION: Don’t stop at head knowledge, have a working knowledge of what is known.
PRAYER: I receive understanding, in Jesus Name, Amen.
QUOTE: Until what is known is acted upon, then what is known is just a mental assent.
