IDENTITY DISCOVERY; THE CURE TO IDENTITY CRISIS (9)

Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, – Ephesians 1:15-19

LIGHT FOR NOW: The born again man is born of the living word.

We came to deduce from Apostle Peter’s word in 1Peter 1:23 that the term “word of God” there is in reference to the person of Jesus and not a book written with paper and ink; that is, the bible. However, lets pay a close attention again to the previous verses, it reads “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God” (1Peter 1:18-21). Obviously, from his words in these verses, it is clear that he was talking about a person (Christ Jesus) and so when he said “by the word of God” in verse 23, he was referring to this person. But before we examine the word “word” for further clarity, observe the statement in verse 20, “Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world”. Notice, he is talking about the redemption plan of God in Christ (verses 18 and 19) and he says in verse 20 that God foreknew it before the foundation of the world. Now, the statement “before the foundation of the world” or “from the foundation of the world” is in reference to the book of Genesis (the written word). So what comes to mind now? The word of God is a person (Jesus, the living word), but God’s plan of redemption before the foundation of the world (Genesis) in this person can be found there in Genesis, the written word. In other words, the written word (the bible) points to the living word (Jesus). In essence, the word is a person not a book, but the revelation of this person is in a book. In other words, the bible is God’s written word whose message is God’s living word (that is, the person of Jesus). So, the reason for the written word (the bible) is the living word (Christ Jesus) because the living word (Christ Jesus) is what makes the written word (the bible) the word of God. Meaning, if you take away Jesus from the bible, it can no longer be called the word of God because the person of Jesus is what makes the bible to be called the word of God. Hallelujah!

PRAYER: Father, the eyes of my understanding are enlightened, in Jesus Name.  Amen.
