“Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,” – Ephesians 1:15-19
LIGHT FOR NOW: The need for knowledge is the believers’ greatest need after salvation.
It is saddening to know that most folks are living a life less of these realities in Christ. This is because they have not come to a place of precision with reference to their identity in Christ. They have not known who they are; and because they have not known who they are, they have not known what they have; and because they have not known what they have, they have not known what they can do in Christ. It is the revelation of your identity in Christ that enables and equips you to live the Christian life in its totality. So, lack of an understanding of your identity in Christ is an identity crisis in itself. The believer who has not known his identity or has not understood the import of what Christ has accomplished in him in His death, burial and resurrection cannot maximize or utilize what has been made out of him in Jesus’ finished work. Believers in Christ in the church world today live as though they were not saved because they have not understood the impact of being saved; they are living in absolute defeat as though Jesus had not won the victory; Satan has become their prayer point, they wake up 12o’clock in the night to fight Satan and his demons because in their minds they have been taught to believe that, that is when Satan is very powerful (in fact, they even believe that Satan is omnipresence); they are saved (which by implication means they have been delivered ; delivered from the power of darkness and translated into the kingdom of his dear son); but still, they are looking for deliverance and so they have become victims in the hands of the so-called ministers; they think the born again man who is possessed by God can be possessed at the same time by the devil; most of them try to work on their conducts without looking at Christ Jesus in the written word, and so, their effort to help themselves by themselves fails and so they give up on themselves conduct wise. They’ll look at themselves and since all they see is weakness, failure, sin, faults, they, then turn to God and say “don’t use me, use someone else, I’m too filthy for you to use me”, and so they give up on themselves.
This is why the devotional of this month is going to address the issue of our identity equipping us to live in the fullness of our personality in humanity. Hallelujah!
