“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek” – Romans 1:16
LIGHT FOR NOW: The gospel is about faith in Christ which equals salvation.
God’s promise to Abraham was never material blessings. The gospel is not about things or material blessings. The gospel is about faith in Christ which equals salvation. The promise of God to Abraham was life through Christ Jesus. 1 John chapter 2 verse 25 says, “And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life”. God has never promised man destruction or death. God is not involved in any form of destruction or death. God is not destructive or dead by nature. God is about life all the way. This life can only be found in the person of Christ Jesus. God has packaged eternal life in the personality of Jesus Christ. The will of God towards man is life. The gospel of Christ is therefore God’s will to man. Eternal life is displayed in the resurrection of Christ from the dead. Eternal life cannot be at work in you until you believe. Eternal life is the very life of God given to those who believe. The resurrection of Christ from the dead is the power of God. The promise of God was fulfilled in the resurrection of Christ from the dead. It was out of love that God surrendered Christ up to die. But by His predeterminate counsel, God raised Christ up from the dead. In the resurrection is life and this is all that matters. By the resurrection of Christ, God begot us as sons unto His glory. God’s promise is life as revealed in the gospel of Christ. It is only in the gospel of Christ that eternal life is revealed.
The hearing of faith is the hearing of life. When you exercise faith in the gospel, you have life. The gospel is the message of Christ. Outside Christ, there is no gospel. The gospel is God’s promise to man fulfilled. There are no more any unfulfilled promises. All of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ. Believers in Christ are in the reality of God’s promises. Therefore, they are to take delivery of all the promises as they have already been fulfilled in Christ. Eternal life becomes a reality by the death, burial, resurrection and ascension of Christ. This is what makes the gospel good news. The preaching of the gospel is the preaching of the finished work of Christ. Jesus is the focus, center, climax, character and subject matter of the gospel. Any message without Christ as the focus cannot be the gospel.
INSTRUCTION: Consciously grow in the knowledge of the Gospel of Christ.
PRAYER: Lord, I believe your gospel and I have eternal life, in Jesus Name. Amen.
QUOTE: Any message without Christ as the subject matter cannot be the gospel of Christ.
