Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things which are freely given to us of God” 1 Corinthians 2:12

God gives freely and graciously.

When it has to do with God’s giving, one thing is so loud and that is “freely given”. If it is God that gives, then there is no condition attached and there is no demand. God gives freely and graciously, and the focus is to favour the recipient. Romans 8:32 says “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” God’s giving is about the recipient and not Himself. James 1:5 says “If any one of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” The word “liberally” is from the Greek word “haplotes” which means singleness and sincerity. The word “singleness” is from the same Greek word “haplotes” which means not eye service and not to please men. God is sincere in the place of giving because He does not have reason(s) for giving. God is generous and gracious. The word “upbraideth not” is from the Greek word “oneidizo” which means not to reproach or find fault. So, God gives without finding fault because He does not have reason(s) for giving. And He does not bring reproach to the person who receives from Him. His only reason for giving is to make available what is lacking. He gives to supply the need of the recipient. His giving is not based on the recipient’s actions or inactions. God is always willing at all time to give. He gives without any condition. His giving is not a response to man’s actions or deeds. Giving is His character. His giving is to favour man and meet man’s needs. In John 3:16, God gave Jesus to meet man’s need (salvation). That is why salvation is neither our work nor a reward (Ephesians 2:8-9). God is selfless in the place of giving. Therefore, we must emulate Him! Hallelujah!

Let the mind of Christ be in you.

Father, I receive grace to give freely and generously, in Jesus name.

QUOTE: Giving is spiritual. It takes a man of the spirit to give.
