Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver – 2 Corinthians 9:7
LIGHT FOR NOW: Whatever is not given willingly is not accepted by God
Paul taught believers to give willingly. He made it publicly known that God loves a cheerful giver. Whatever is not given willingly is not accepted by God. God is not in need neither is He in want of anything. The creator of the visible and invisible worlds is the custodian of everything. Let this truth guide our hearts and always remember that we give our material things in response to His love for us and not with a view to enriching Him.
When you give bear it in mind that your gift is aimed at meeting a need. In this respect, we imitate God whose gift to man met a vital need! The gift of Christ was to meet the need of salvation. Man was dead in sin, so, he had a dire need for salvation. Man was lost, but God through Christ found man and saved him! what a love? What a generosity, what a high degree of willingness? The gift of God met the need of man.
Does your gift meet needs? Give primarily to meet needs. Gifts that do not meet needs are a waste of resources. In the Church, family, society and in the general public intentionally identify needs and meet them. God took the initiative in the salvation of man. He was not coerced, forced or appealed to. Let this principle be your guide when giving to the Set Man of God in the Household of Faith. Don’t give grudgingly, or reluctantly, or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver. God gives cheerfully
Christ saved the world willingly and today He is known as the Saviour and Redeemer of the World. Take initiative in doing what is good. Take bold steps in meeting needs bearing in mind that God has given you the Grace to do so. At 2 Corinthians 9:8 [NIV] Paul says that …God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. One of the good works here referred to is dispensing of your substance for the advancement of the kingdom work. Give willingly because God has empowered you to do so.
INSTRUCTION: Be willing in the place of giving.
Prayer: Father, I thank you for the Grace to give willingly, in Jesus Name. Amen!
QUOTE: You are known in what you do.
