AUTHORITY IN THE NAME JESUS (1)

“Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe according to the working of his mighty power” – Ephesians 1:16-19

LIGHT FOR NOW: The prophets in their utterances had Jesus as the focus. Their utterances were Christ centered directed towards the suffering of Christ and the glory that followed.

Whatever belongs to us in Christ will be based on the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Paul said in Philemon 1:6 “That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus”. It is vital to note that one very vital and important fact the believer needs to appreciate is his authority in the name of Jesus. There is need for us to find out what is referred to as the name of Jesus and how you are identified with him and how you use the name. There is need to understand in detail what the name of Jesus entails and how to use that name.

The prophets spoke about what Jesus was going to accomplish or do for man. In this regard,
Apostle Peter spoke in 1Peter 1:10-11 saying “Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: Searching what, or what manner of time the spirit of Christ which was in them did signify when it testified beforehand, the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow”. Peter here was very specific as touching what the prophets in their utterances spoke about Christ; his sufferings and the glory that should follow. He called this “grace” which implies something given to you freely, without asking. Hence, the prophets spoke ahead of time of the things freely given to us; things that will happen to Jesus that is relevant to us. The “sufferings of Christ and glory to follow” is grace to us. Glory!

INSTRUCTION: Acknowledge that you are a product of God’s grace.

CONFESSION: I declare that I am a product of God’s grace, and God’s grace is sufficient for me always, in Jesus Name.  Amen.

QUOTE: In the utterances of the prophets, Jesus is the focus.
