“That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus” – Philemon 1:6
LIGHT FOR NOW: The Christian life and walk cannot be active and effective in ignorance but in knowledge.
Our above text is the Apostle’s Paul prayer to a protégé of his by the name Philemon, and this letter applies to us the believers today. The above text of scripture as we will look at it closely will show us how essential knowledge is to the believer if his Christian life or walk is to be active and effective. It will reveal to us that the effectiveness or activeness of the Christian walk and life is to the degree of the knowledge you have. Observe closely Paul’s words again, “That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus”. The word “communication” used here in Philemon 1:6 was translated from the Greek word “koinonia” which implies fellowship or participation. The use of the word “faith” in this context is in reference to the Christian walk; that is, the walk of faith.
Bringing these two explanations together, it thus follow that this term “communication of thy faith” implies fellowship or participation of your faith. In essence, it is in reference to your Christian walk; that is, the way you live your life as a Christian. Another important word in that text is the word “acknowledging”, and this word was translated from the Greek word “epignosis”; it refers to comprehensive insight, exact, precise, and accurate knowledge. Putting this together, it can be clearly stated that your Christian life and walk will be as effective as the knowledge of Christ you have. That’s why Paul echoes “by the acknowledging (precise knowledge) of every good thing in you in Christ”. This is the precise knowledge of what avails to you in Christ or what belongs to you in Christ; who you are in Christ; what you have in Christ and what Christ can do through you. It thus follows that your Christian life and walk will be only effective to the degree of your knowledge and appreciation of the things that are available to you in Christ. This above puts knowledge on the spotlight, hence, the believer after being saved must go for knowledge. Glory!
INSTRUCTION: Go for knowledge after salvation.
CONFESSION: I declare that the zeal to know what salvation has made available to me is ignited like never before; I go after knowledge, in Jesus Name. Amen.
QUOTE: Your activeness and effectiveness in the Christian walk is directly proportional to knowledge.
