THE GRACE OF GOD IS SUFFICIENT FOR YOU

“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” – Hebrews 4:16

LIGHT FOR NOW: Where the will of God leads you to, the grace of God will keep you.

Grace is God’s riches at Christ expense. Every man or woman has equal access to the throne of grace. The grace of God drags you from where you were to where you did not deserve to be. In today’s text, the word “boldly” signifies that God deemed you good to appear before the throne of God even when you are aware that you are not qualified to do so. Grace means that all of your mistakes have been erased and disqualifies you from seeing shame. Sin does not stop God’s grace from flourishing to you, but God’s grace will stop sin from ruling over your life. Being beautiful, hardworking, or wealthy without the grace of God is like having a hook without bait. You will never make a catch. The grace of God is that bait that attracts the fish to the hook. Grace is at work when you obtain the good things you don’t deserve. Mercy is manifest when you are spared from the consequences of the bad things you committed. You deserved to die but mercy said no. Indeed God is generous both in grace and mercy.

Grace was first mentioned in the bible in Genesis 6:8, where Noah was said to have found grace in the eyes of the Lord. The context shows that grace came to clear sins away. For where there is sin, grace much more abounds (Romans 5:20). It is not a certificate for sin; shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall you that is dead to sin keep living in sin? Instead, the grace of God that brings salvation which has appeared unto all men is to teach you how to depart from iniquity and live a godly life (Titus 2:11-12). The grace of God is not in vain but it is to make you labour better than others in righteousness (1Corinthians 15:10) and to help you work out your own salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12). Glory!

INSTRUCTION: Abide in the grace.

CONFESSION:  Lord, I receive the grace to be made by you, in Jesus Name, Amen.

QUOTE: Grace is at work in those whose hearts are available.
