“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shall thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid of the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the Most High, thy habitation.” – Psalm 91:1-9
LIGHT FOR NOW: The Almighty is the sufficient one, the double breasted one; He is the one that shields and defends you.
In our investigation of Psalm 91:1, we’ve looked closely into a couple of words. The last word to be looked at in verse 1 of Psalm 91 is the word “Almighty”. This is a word you will see used in Genesis 17:1 which reads “And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect”. That last word we are looking at in Psalm 91:1 which is Almighty was translated from the Hebrew “shadday”; it has a general usage. The word “shadday” implies sufficient. It also means “double breasted”, describing a person who can handle things. Our God is the sufficient God; He is self-sufficient. Our God is the double breasted one. The one with the height of all authority and power (the Most High) and the one that is sufficient and double breasted is the one that shields you; you are too protected, shielded and defended. Bringing the entire analysis on Psalm 91:1 together, the text can thus be rendered revelatory as “The inhabitants of the secret of the Most High (one with the height of all authority and power) benefits from the defence and protection of the Almighty, the one that is sufficient to protect and defend”. Glory!!!
INSTRUCTION: Never quake nor shake, the double breasted one; the self sufficient one and the one with the height of all authority and power is your shield.
CONFESSION: I declare that I am too protected to be destroyed; too shielded to be harmed, in Jesus name, Amen.
QUOTE: We serve a self-sufficient God who is sufficient all by himself.
