“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shall thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid of the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. LIGHT FOR NOW: The Most High is the one with the height of all authority and power.
Having examined a couple of words up till the word shadow, let’s observe the next word which is “Most High”. The word “Most High” was gotten from the Greek word “Elyon” which implies height, lofty, supreme, the height of authority and power. Note it was used for authority and power and not height. In Genesis 14:18-19, we see a use of this word, it reads “And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth”. David’s use of the word “Most High” (Elyon) refers to the height of authority and power.
Bringing the understanding of the word Most High back to Psalm 91:1, it can be rephrased as “The inhabitants of the secret of the Most High (one with the height of all authority and power) benefits from the defence and protection of the Almighty”. So who is shielding you? The Most High is the one shielding you. Who is the Most High? The Most High is the one with the height of all authority and power. If the one with the height of all authority and power shields you, who is that devil that can hurt you and harm you? The one with the height of all authority and power is your shield and covering; He is your defender, preserver and protection, no devil can hurt you. Glory!!!
