“That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him. The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints. And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power.” – Ephesians 1:17-19

LIGHT FOR NOW: The bible is a believer’s guide and a believer cannot know or exercise his rights, if he hasn’t surrendered himself to be taught.

The gospel is the power of God and news itself saves. The word “authority “spelt “exousia” in Greek means power, dominion over a certain realm, privilege or ability.  It is often seen that some Christians are fond of saying how long they have been of service to God or how long they have been Christians, yet their lives do not reflect the characteristics of the God they worship. This would mean that the Christian has only received Christ but has not come to the knowledge of the word of God. Believers ought to know that authority, power and dominion was given to them when they first became born again and at salvation there was an automatic merger between divinity and humanity that is a conglomeration of dominion, authority and power inside the believer.  Hence, when God takes residence in you, he chases darkness away and subdues the powerlessness that had before now existed in the life of that believer. So, a believer must know that to exercise full sonship rights he or she must first come to the knowledge of the “Him” factor which is Jesus Christ.

Colossians 1:13-14 encourages “for he has rescued us from the dominion (exousia) of darkness and has brought us into the kinds of the son he loves (Jesus), in whom we have redemption the forgiveness of sin”. A believer’s authority lies in the truth that he has been saved, he is eternally forgiven by God and as such he has a right standing with God. Hence, his mind should not be beclouded with the consciousness of sin rather his focus should be on all that Christ had done in his death, burial and resurrection which in turn gives us victory. The value and efficacy of a believer’s authority rests on the power behind that authority. God himself is the power behind every believer’s authority, Glory!

INSTRUCTION: A Believer should understand that they have the backing of God in them and should exercise their authority fearlessly.

CONFESSION: I affirm that God lives in me therefore I don’t have a power problem.

QUOTE: All that Christ paid for has placed the believer at an advantaged position.
