AUTHORITY IN CHRIST (14)

“But God who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved); And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus” – Ephesians 2:4-6.

LIGHT FOR NOW: Authority is not given without reasons.

The authority of the Father functions through the born again man. The born again man is in authority; he is in the domain of authority. “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen” (Matthew 28:18-20). That word “power” (verse 18) is actually the word authority; it is “exousia” in the Greek and it means authority. So Jesus says “All authority in heaven and in earth has been given to me…” and he now says “Go ye therefore into all nations…” We know that authority given to Him belongs to us because we have identified with Him. And because of that authority given to Him which is in us, He now says “Go ye into all…” meaning the reason for authority is responsibility.

Therefore, there would have been no reason for authority without responsibility. Responsibility thus defines authority. The kind of authority a person occupies in the natural determines the kind of responsibility he discharges. The believer in Christ operates a place of authority far above principalities and powers; hence, his responsibilities. So in going out to teach/evangelise, we do that from a place of authority. Again, responsibility defines authority. Hallelujah!
