“And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death” – Revelation 1:17-18
LIGHT FOR NOW: God wants you to live in the reality of His glorious resurrection.
Lots of Christians do not know what the resurrection of Jesus Christ implies in their daily lives. The account of John 19:31-37 tells us of His death, of the spear – thrust in His side, and of blood and water pouring out of that great gaping wound. His blood flowed through the ruptured heart into the sack that holds the heart, and His body grew cold. When the Roman spear pierced Him, the white serum gushed out. Then Jesus was dead. Regrettably, we have those who ignorantly weep over His death, lamenting what pain and humiliation He suffered for our sake; but surely, that’s what brought us life eternal and ushered us into an unending life of victory. His suffering was God-ordained, and the result is the glory, victory, success and prosperity we now enjoy. 1 Peter 1:11 affirms this: “Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow” So, rather than lament, we ought to declare every day, the victory this has brought to us who believe. God wants you not only to proclaim that victory, but also to live every day in the reality of the victory of His glorious resurrection.
John 19:38-42 gives us the account of His burial while John 20:1-10 is a narrative of the event of His resurrection, which was what the whole Jewish nation knew, and were shaken to the foundation. 1 Corinthians 15:5-8 declares that above five hundred people saw Him at once at His resurrection; the early church did not try to prove that Jesus arose from the dead, rather, it was a self-evident fact. No one ever questioned the fact of His resurrection as they were there when it happened. They saw the empty tomb and the grave clothes. History has it that tens of thousands of Jews went to that empty sepulcher confused; they knew He had risen. The result therefore is that, now, God can on legal grounds give to every man that believes eternal life. What a life! Now, with this life, we reign as masters and kings. The Weymouth’s translation of Romans 5:17 fits in here perfectly; it says, “For if, through the transgression of one individual, death made use of the one individual to seize the sovereignty, all the more shall those who receive God’s overflowing grace and gift of righteousness reign as kings in life through the one individual, Jesus Christ” Glory!
INSTRUCTION: Believe the gospel.
PRAYER: I affirm that by faith in Christ I am made the righteousness of God; I stand as a master, a conqueror and a bondage – breaker in my generation – Glory!
QUOTE: The righteousness of God does not come by following principles.
