“To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me” (Acts 26:18)

LIGHT FOR NOW: Ours is a kingdom of words.

The above text of the scripture as well as Deuteronomy 6:23 that says, “And he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he sware unto our fathers” convey the same message which is a confirmation of the fact that believers have inheritance in Christ. Jesus didn’t die to only save us from our sins, but we were also brought into glorious oneness with the Father, thereby sharing in all He has. Yet, most believers are ignorant of the realities of the finished work of Christ. Galatians 4:1-2 says, “Now I say, that the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.” An heir is someone who has an inheritance bequeathed to him, a legal inheritor of something: an estate or position of high authority and wealth. However, this heir, as long as he remains a “child” (Greek: Nepios) will live in servitude because of his immaturity, despite being the legal inheritor of a vast estate. A noticeable characteristic of a “nepios” is that, he can’t talk right; he doesn’t have the intelligence of a mature person, and as a result, he’s unable to communicate sensibly with his speech. Some Christians are that way; they haven’t mastered the use of their tongue yet. Yes, the Word says they’re heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ, “…the spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ…” (Romans 8:16-17); but they can’t live the life of an heir, because they haven’t matured spiritually.

It’s a truth that in Christ Jesus, you’ve been given dominion over circumstances. You’re superior to Satan and the forces of darkness. You have unlimited access to kingdom resources.  Nevertheless, as long as you haven’t been trained to know how to communicate appropriately, you’ll live as a victim. Remember, ours is a kingdom of words: “We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak”(2 Corinthians 4:13). The pastor’s assignment is to groom, nurture till maturity the believers under his care; till we (the saints) come to the unity of faith, that is, of the knowledge of the son of God (Ephesians 4:11-13). That is why being a part of a local church is very important; every believer must be located in a local assembly after salvation, in order to regularly learn the Word of God and to be able to apply it for himself. The believer is able to handle his inheritance, as much as he knows how to use the authority bequeathed to him in Christ.

INSTRUCTION: Go after knowledge.

PRAYER: Through the Holy Spirit, I’m taught and instructed in the life of Christ, and positioned to enjoy the great inheritance bequeathed to me in Him – Glory!

QUOTE: The believer will only be able to handle his inheritance in the knowledge of who he is in Christ.
