UNDERSTANDING THE SCRIPTURES (25)

“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side. Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.” – Isaiah 60:1-5

LIGHT FOR NOW: The bible which is a contextual material was contextually written to be contextually read by its readers.

Many read Deuteronomy 22:5 where we have the question as touching dressing, and in reading it, they read their opinions into it, and a number of opinions are formed because they read Deuteronomy 22:5 in isolation of the surrounding context. The two opinions in this scripture are assumptions because in that text of scripture, Moses never mentioned skirts and trousers. It is those reading it today that has read those dressing into that verse. Moses said that which pertaineth to a woman and that which pertaineth to a man without any specific classification. But reading your opinions and mindset will make you plug it out of its context, and that is an abuse of the intent of the author in that verse; because that verse has no trouser or skirt in it. But if we read it first without any pre-conceived opinion or notion, we will observe that there is no skirt or trouser mentioned there; this idea was added by men. This means that Moses’ audience was not thinking of skirt and trouser when they were given that instruction.

The unbelieving Jews were his audience. This instruction or law was given to those who did not believe the gospel. If you are a believer, do you know that law does not apply to you? By the law of application in bible interpretation, Deuteronomy 22:5 does not apply to the man in Christ; the believer is not one in whom there is no faith. So if you are a believer, by the law of application, skirt and trouser has nothing to do with your salvation. Hallelujah!

INSTRUCTION: Follow the study.

PRAYER: I receive understanding, in Jesus Name, Amen.
