UNDERSTANDING THE SCRIPTURES (1)

“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side. Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.”

– Isaiah 60:1-5

LIGHT FOR NOW: Get your observation in the place of reading right, and it will be easy to get the right interpretation and the right application of what has been rightly interpreted.

We began months ago with the title, “Jesus in all the earth” and moved further to “The bible in our hands” since the study up till this point is focused on establishing us with the nittygritty of bible study as touching bible reading, interpretation and application.

However, the second aim of the study as started months before now will be to subject Isaiah 60:1-5 under careful scriptural scrutiny; where all the rules of bible reading, interpretation and application brought to light in our previous studies into this studies presently will be applied, in order to see in its exactness what Isaiah was talking about. So far as the study advanced, we established three important and vital fact a student or reader of scriptures must bear in mind while embarking on a thorough bible study which is:

● Observation

● Interpretation and

● Application A vital rule still remains that reading with zero percent observation is no reading at all.

Observation in reading is the true definition of in-depth reading. Hence, the degree to which you observe what you read is the degree to which you will comprehend the read material, and be able to interpret or explain the read material to others; and rightly apply the interpreted knowledge where necessary.

As far as reading or bible reading is concerned:

● To get your application right, get your interpretation right.

● To get your interpretation right, get your observation right.

● To get your observation right, get your reading right. Thus, while reading, not that error in observation will birth error in interpretation and error in application. Hallelujah!

INSTRUCTION: Follow the study. PRAYER: My eyes of understanding are enlightened as I study through, in Jesus Name. Amen.

QUOTE: A poor observation in reading cannot birth a rich interpretation of what is read.
