YOU ARE A SON OF GOD (31)

LIGHT FOR NOW: In the resurrection, Christ is the firstborn among many brethren.

The Father’s eternal intention wasn’t for Christ to remain as “the only begotten son”, rather that Christ would be the pioneer of our salvation and that there will be a mass production of sons. That was why Christ rightly said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit” (John 12:24). Jesus here was saying by my death, burial and resurrection, it will be possible for the Father to have more sons. “For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through suffering” (Hebrews 2:10). Through Jesus’ resurrection, believers have been regenerated unto a living hope thus making them His brethren. “For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren” (Hebrews 2:11).  You are now a son of God, Glory!!!

Through Jesus’ resurrection, believers have been regenerated unto a living hope thus making them His brethren. “For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren” (Hebrews 2:11). The word “brethren” in the above text of the scriptures was translated from the Greek word “adelphos” which implies same womb or same parentage. Which womb? Not Mary’s! But referring to His resurrection. So when David in Psalm 2:7 said ” … thou art my son; this day have I begotten thee”, he was prophesying about Christ’s resurrection. So in the resurrection, Christ is the “first born” among many brethren. (Acts 13:33-34; Hebrews 1:5-6) The resurrection also is the believer’s womb. Hence, the new creation is fully revealed in the resurrected Christ – the “Prototokos’. GLORY!
