“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover” – Mark 16:15-18
LIGHT FOR NOW: The effectiveness of the command “Go ye into all the world” is in the going.
From the studies so far, and from previously examining Paul’s words in 2 Corinthians 5:17-20, it is clear that every believer (male and female) has been given the ministry of reconciliation by Jesus. Recall, the word “word” in verse 19 of 2 Corinthians 5 which was translated from the Greek word “logos” implies a message. Meaning, the ministry of reconciliation is the message of reconciliation. Thus, the message of reconciliation is the work of ministry – what God has done in Christ. Every believer (male and female) has been given that work. Paul explained this earlier in chapter 4, as the preaching of the gospel; it reads “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves servants for Jesus’ sake. For God who commandeth the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus” (2 Corinthians 4:3-6).
Further, in chapter 5, he explained the same truth; Paul explained the gospel in context: “For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead. And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again” (2 Corinthians 5:14-15). Thus, the ministry of reconciliation is the message of the gospel, given to every believer. Therefore, when Jesus said in our key text (Mark 16:15-18), “Go ye into all the world…” you cannot be found not going. The command is to go; the effectiveness will be seen in the going; your obedience is in the going. The gospel must be preached in all the earth. You are God’s tool, vessel and handiwork to spread the message of his goodness to mankind. Glory!!
INSTRUCTION: You are God’s vessel to spread his message, spread it!
PRAYER: Father, I declare my consecration to you today; to spread your message; the message of what you have done in Christ to mankind, in Jesus Name. Amen.
QUOTE: The saved man was not just saved by the gospel; he was saved and sent by the gospel.
