THE GOSPEL AND THE MINISTER OF THE GOSPEL (21)

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover” – Mark 16:15-18

LIGHT FOR NOW: No matter men’s ideologies and submissions; the bible must be our final authority as far as bible study is concerned.

Having established from the pages of scriptures what the gospel is, at this point it is pivotal that we proceed to examining who the minister of the gospel is. This search is so important because embedded in this investigation is the clarification of certain ideologies like:
The preaching of the gospel is restricted to a specific group of people tagged or with the title “pastors”.
Not every believer should be involved in the work of ministry because not every believer is called to the work of the ministry.
Females are not called to the work of the ministry, only males are called and thus, only males should be involved in the work of ministry (that is, the preaching of the gospel).
You are only called into the work of ministry as a believer when you have a big cathedral and thus, you stand behind a pulpit with the microphone “senior pastor” or “most holy Reverend” or “Arch Bishop”.

We will see if the above ideologies and submission so many have in their minds about the work of ministry are true. Let’s begin as the question “Who is the minister of the gospel” is being answered. The words of Jesus in Matthew 20:26-28 will give us a lead in this study, it reads: “But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever shall be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many”. The same account of Matthew 20:26-28 was equally recorded in Mark 10:43-45 which reads “But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister. And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. For even the son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many”. Now, the word “minister” in the above text is key in this study, and we will begin to explore this word in subsequent studies. Hallelujah!

INSTRUCTION: Don’t subject God’s word to men’s opinion, subject men’s opinion to God’s word.

PRAYER: I declare that the attitude of playing premium on God’s word above men’s opinion is manifested by me, in Jesus Name. Amen.

QUOTE: You don’t subject God’s word to the opinion of man; you rather subject the opinion of man to God’s word.
