“And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to the cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them triumphing over them in it” – Colossians 2:13-15

LIGHT FOR NOW: The believer in Christ is the proof of Jesus’ authority.

For the grammatical analysis of key words that make up Colossians 2:15, we have come to see that it is in the resurrection that the believer was displayed as the proof of that disarming. Recall, the last word we examined which is “triumphing over” has to do with a trophy, a display of trophy. That means what Jesus displayed is a proof of what he did. In other words, in Colossians 2:15, that display is that of the believer who has been freed from the enemy. It should be noted that the one who was under the enemy was the unsaved man. That would follow that the person who was delivered was man; in the same breath, the person who was displayed at the resurrection was man. It means at the resurrection; the proof of Jesus’ resurrection is the believer. Jesus is the pattern of everyone who has been disarmed via the forgiveness of sins, that is, those who have been taken from the hold of the enemy. As a result of this, the believer becomes a trophy of Christ’s victory; a proof of what Jesus did. The believer is the proof of his resurrection.

So, how did Jesus’ display victory over Satan? The answer is “through those that believe”. He displays his triumph over the enemy through the believer. Since the church is the trophy of Christ’s resurrection, it implies that the display was done openly on earth. Recall Hebrews 2:14-15 again, it reads “For as much then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that hath power of death, that is, the devil. And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage”. Recall, the word destroy means to annul, to render powerless or useless. The word “deliver” here means to release. This shows that the proof of Christ’s victory is the released/delivered. Christ’s authority is the believer. We are the trophies of Christ’ victory. We are the proof that Jesus rose from the dead. We are not in bondage or in the captivity of the enemy. We are in authority… Glory!

INSTRUCTION: Let your realities occupy your mind like never before.

PRAYER: Thank you Lord for your resurrection wherein I am found in you having your very life and making me a proof of your authority, in Jesus Name, Amen.

QUOTE: The believer is the proof that Jesus rose from the dead.
