“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” – Matthew 28:18-20.
LIGHT FOR NOW:Words are the symbols of authority.
We have seen that the word power in the above text is the word authority. Also, it’s clear that the authority of Jesus belongs to the believer. We deduced that authority is given, because of responsibility; hence, “Go ye into all nations…” So, in teaching and preaching the gospel, we do it from a place of authority. Let’s pay attention to Mark 16 as we have a broader understanding of the fact above, it reads “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover” (Mark 16:15-18).
- So, we heal the sick, why? This is because we are in authority.
- We cast out devils, why? Still because we are in authority.
- We take up serpents and we are not hurt (that is, we render Satan’s work ineffective), why? Still because we are in authority.
We have authority to preach, to cast out devils, to heal the sick, raise the dead, and render Satan’s work ineffective. So the above are the reasons for authority. Any time you encounter a sick condition, it is a challenge to your authority, so what you do is to put your authority to work by healing the sick. How will you heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out devils, teach the word? The answer is by words or by speaking. In other words, what are the symbols of authority? The answer is words. Words are the symbols of authority. So how is authority exercised? Authority is exercised by words; by speaking. Hallelujah!
INSTRUCTION:Mind what you say.
PRAYER:I say that I am victorious, I am in charge, I am not a failure, I cannot be defeated, I declare that I am in victory always, in Jesus name, Amen.
QUOTE:The symbols of authority are words.
