THE GOOD THING IN YOU; YOUR AUTHORITY IN CHRIST (13)

“And God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth – Genesis 1:26-28.

LIGHT FOR NOW: Jesus gives visibility to God who is invisible.

Paul from his words in 1Corinthians 15:45 makes it clear that the first man Adam in the man of Genesis 2:7. And thus the last Adam who is a quickening spirit is the man of Genesis 1:26-28. This man (Adam) of Genesis 1:26-28. This man (Adam) of Genesis 1:26-28 who is a quickening spirit is the image and likeness of God and the one occupying the authority or dominion of the Father. Who then is the man? Don’t forget that the Old Testament are concealed scriptures, the New Testament are revealed scriptures. Hence, the New Testament interprets the Old Testament. So, who is this man that is the image of God; who is this man in authority? In Colossians chapter 1, Paul unveils to us that Christ is the image of God, it reads “Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature” (Colossians 1:15). So who is the image of God? Is it Adam (the first man) or Jesus (the last man)? The answer is Jesus. The last Adam, that is, Jesus is the image of God and not Adam (the first man). It follows that the man in Genesis 1:26-28 who is the image of God and occupies the authority of the Father is not Adam (the first man) but Jesus.

In Hebrews 1, the writer of Hebrews calls Jesus the express image of God, it reads “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person” (Hebrews 1:3). In Romans 8:29, Paul spoke in like fashion, it reads “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren”. So Jesus is the man of Genesis 1:26-28; He is God’s Adam; He is God’s plan for the Adam of Genesis 2:7.
