“And God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth – Genesis 1:26-28.

LIGHT FOR NOW: It is not possible to be a son of God without the life of God.

In our previous study, Paul in his words in 1Corinthians 15:45 gave us a lead to unbundling the men in Genesis 1:26-28 and Genesis 2:7. Let’s hear Paul’s words again, it reads “And so it is written, the first man Adam was made a living soul: the last Adam was made a quickening spirit”. So Paul in his words identifies two Adams:

  • The first man Adam who was made a living soul (and Paul here in 1Corinthians 15:45 is quoting Genesis 2:7).
  • The last Adam who is a quickening spirit.

The last Adam was not made a quickening spirit, the last Adam is a quickening spirit; hence, the word “was made” there was italicized and it means it was inserted by translators and thus wasn’t in the original. Without doubt, if the first Adam who was made a living soul is the Adam of Genesis 2:7, then the last Adam who is a quickening spirit will be the Adam of Genesis 1:26-28. Remember;

  • “Let us make” refers to a plan.
  • “Image and likeness” means origin; that is, your origin or sonship.

And you can’t be a son of God without being birthed by God or without the life of God. And you can’t have the life of God without the spirit of God, hence why the word “born again” is being born of the spirit; so a man cannot be born again but by the spirit. So the image and likeness of God will be;

  • Sonship
  • The spirit of God
  • The life of God;

And the dominion and authority of God is occupied by this man who is the image of God; that is, he is a son of God and has the life of God.

INSTRUCTION: Be full of the word.

PRAYER: I declare that the revelation of your word grows in me like never before, in Jesus Name, Amen.

QUOTE: Consistent persistence is the litmus test for diligence in bible study.
