“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, let there be light: and there was light” Genesis 1:1-3.

LIGHT FOR NOW:God’s plan of salvation was not an afterthought, it was the real thought.

In unbundling how the bible opens up, we have come to discover that the bible opens up with the promise of the new creation, salvation, redemption and the indwelling of the spirit. We have seen the state of man in darkness; man, empty of the light. The solution to man in this state is in the next statement; “And the spirit of God moved upon the face… Light be…” So this is an utterance of salvation and this utterance of salvation which is God’s promise in prophetic utterance is the solution to man in darkness; man without the light, the life and the spirit. Keep in mind that this salvation plan or promise is in Genesis 1:1-3 before man was ever formed in Genesis 2 and made his choice in Genesis 3.

Now, it’s thus clear that verse 2 into 3 of Genesis 1 where man’s state in darkness is revealed, the solution to that problem is still in that verse 2 into 3; the solution is salvation, redemption, the new creation, the spirit of God hovering upon the face of waters. That is why verse 1 of Genesis 1 says “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth”. Heaven and earth here are imageries of God’s union with man. That union or amalgamation of God and man is called heaven and earth. Remember, we have already seen that earth (verse 2) was figurative for man; so it won’t be difficult to identify at this point that earth in verse 1 was figurative for man, and heaven will thus be for God. So heaven and earth there is new creation and the new creation is found in salvation. Verse 1 of Genesis can now be understood as “In the beginning God’s creation was the new creation”. Don’t forget that this is God’s plan or promise in prophetic utterance. The new creation therefore is God’s solution to man in darkness, and this buttresses the fact that the bible opens up with God’s plan of salvation, God’s plan of redemption, God’s plan of eternal life, God’s plan of the new creation. Thus, salvation is not an afterthought, salvation is not a plan B; salvation plan will not be God’s reaction to the fall of man. Salvation plan was a pro-action even before man ever thought of falling. Hallelujah!

INSTRUCTION: You were not an afterthought of God. Think!

PRAYER: Thank you Lord for the revelation of your word growing big on my inside till nothing else matters, in Jesus Name, Amen.

QUOTE: The new creation is not an afterthought; not a reaction but a pro-action.
