“And he made his grave with the wicked, and with rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth” Isaiah 53:9.
LIGHT FOR NOW: Jesus became one with Satan in spiritual death to make you one with God in spiritual life.
The word ‘death’ is plural in Hebrew. This is to say that Jesus died twice on the cross. This means that He died two types of death on the cross. He died spiritually before He died physically. In John 10:18, Jesus said that no one could take His life from Him. This means that He could not be killed and He could not die because His body was not mortal. Jesus had a body like Adam in his original state before he sinned; it was a perfect human body, neither mortal nor immortal. It was a body that could not die until sin had taken possession of His spirit. In other words, Jesus had to die spiritually before He could die physically. He yielded up the ghost. This means that He submitted to death willingly just because of you and not because death was too powerful for Him.The entire human race died with the Crucified One. Paul says, “If we died with Christ, we believe we shall also live with Him” (Romans 6:8; 2 Timothy 2:11). This is to show that you died with Christ when He died. He was your substitute and you were one with Him on the cross and in His death. He died in your stead. He died because He was made sin. If you accept Jesus today, there is no more death for you.
Jesus poured out His life into death. Through that death, you were made alive. It was your sin that slew Him but it is His righteousness that gives you life. He drank from the cup of death that you might drink the cup of life. Jesus destroyed the lordship of death when He resurrected. When death slew Him, it slew itself. He conquered sin when He allowed sin to conquer Him. He conquered Satan when He went to Hell. He became one with Satan in spiritual death to make you one with God in spiritual life. You died once with Christ on the cross and now you live to reign with Him. All He is and did is yours. Hallelujah!!
